Chamonix Valle – Guided Walks with TMB Highlights
Chamonix Valle Guided Walks with TMB Highlights
The Tour du Mont Blanc with a difference! This one week ‘Easy’ walking holiday offers you the chance to soak up the best views that the Chamonix Valle has to offer. Spend 6 days using the different cable cars in the valley to take the hard work out of the climbs. On this ‘Easy’ grade holiday, the amount of height gain each day is limited to a maximum of 600 metres each day. Some of these days out follow parts of the TMB, the Tour du Mont Blanc, an 11 day walk around the base of the Mont Blanc massif.
Based at our hotel in Chamonix, the vibrant valley’s ‘capital’ we will make use of the Bus & Train service that runs up and down the valley, connecting with various cable car stations that will take us up onto the ridges above. This offer different panoramic perspectives each day and include:
Lac Blanc, with its stunning views across the valley to the Mer du Glace, the biggest glacier in the Chamonix Valley
The Belle View ridge, above Les Houches. Gaze up at the ‘Eagles Nest’ above the Bionnasay Glacier
Take a walk from Montroc up to the Col du Balme, the border crossing between France & Switzerland before enjoying lunch at the Chalet de Balme.
A look down onto the Glacier D’Argentiere from the slopes of Mont de Lognan.
Ride by telepherique to the summit of Le Brevent for a stroll along the Grand Balcon, offering stunning photographic opportunities of the Mont Blanc massif and its summit. Afterwards we descend on foot to Plan Praz, with perhaps the chance to see Ibex and Marmots on route.
Cable car to the Plan de Aiguille refuge, 2270 metres, for coffee before a stroll along the balcony route to the top station of the Chamonix – Mer du Glacier Train at Montenvers. From here we descend riding the Cog railway to Chamonix Station.
Your guide will inspect the weather forecast for the week ahead and plan our itinerary based on obtaining the clearest skies each day!

How fit do I need to be?
This Chamonix Valle guided walks trip is suitable for anyone who is a regular walker. You will need to carry a small – medium sized rucksack (a maximum of 30 Litres in size) and the total weight based on the kit list provided should not exceed 5-8 kilograms.
How long will we be walking for each day?
You should expect to be walking for 4 – 7 hours per day, based on a walking speed of 3 kilometres per hour, known to some as ‘Alpine plod’. It’s not a race and there is plenty of time for taking in the scenery and stopping for picnic lunches on route. The tracks and paths are rocky in places, but of good quality.
What do I need to carry?
We will send you a minimum requirement kit list and advice on the best type of clothing to wear. Some things are obligatory, for your safety and wellbeing: Waterproof top & Trousers, hat and gloves, sun hat & cream, sunglasses, a fleece, cash for lunch or a sandwich and a litre of water. We also suggest some snacks, a foam sit map for additional comfort and many people benefit from the use of trekking poles, especially on downward slopes. Your guide will run through this in more detail before you leave the hotel each morning.
How we customise the experience?
Alpine Walk’s guided walking tours are all about the personal touch. Our guides have local knowledge of the routes, what you are likely to see and where is the best restaurant or viewpoint for lunch!
So if you are considering this journey and need to discuss your requirements, please feel free to contact us. We’ll arrange a chat on Skype/Whatsapp to discuss your tour.
